Toyota Safety Sense

Toyota Safety SenseTM is at Red Deer Toyota

Toyota cares about safety, which is why there are constant advancements to Toyota Safety Sense™ (TSS), a suite of safety features designed to help protect you and your passengers, and comes standard on many new Toyotas. Learn more about TSS below.

Pre-Collision System with Pedestrian Detection (PCS w/PD)
TSS-P

Toyota has been rolling out super valuable updates to Toyota Safety Sense for years now, and that includes enhancements to the Pre-Collision System with Pedestrian Detection (PCS w/PD). This feature is designed to help detect a vehicle or pedestrian, engaging an audio/visual forward-collision warning. If you don't react behind the wheel, PCS w/PD is meant to provide automatic emergency braking as well.

Lane Departure Alert (LDA)
TSS-C, TSS-P

A carefully placed camera on your windshield keeps an eye on your location and can let you know if you drifted too far from your lane. This is especially handy during poor weather conditions when you cant see as well. Toyota vehicles equipped with TSS-P and Electronic Power Steering (EPS) also come with Steering Assist. These systems allow your vehicle to make small adjustments to your steering to keep you on the right track.

Automatic High Beams (AHB)
TSS-C, TSS-P

We've all felt the overly bright rays of high beams driving towards you or hogging up your rearview mirror. The Automatic High Beams (AHB) feature on certain Toyota models is designed to activate at speeds above 65 km/h, using an in-vehicle camera to detect lights from vehicles ahead and behind you. The system will automatically toggle between low and high beam intensities, providing you with the ideal light, and protecting surrounding drivers from a lack of appropriate vision.

Dynamic Radar Cruise Control (DRCC)
TSS-C, TSS-P

Standard cruise control is made even more effective with Dynamic Radar Cruise Control (DRCC), allowing your vehicle the ability to automatically slow down when approaching slower vehicles ahead of you. Vehicle distance will decide whether your vehicle needs to accelerate or slow down. Some Toyota vehicles are equipped with Full-Speed Range DRCC, which enhances the vehicles dynamic control of speeds up to 177 km/h.

Pre-Collision System (PCS)
TSS-C

Imagine a car that looks out objects for you and helps avoid making contact by alerting you and even applying the brakes if necessary, this is the Pre-Collision System (PCS) that comes in every Toyota with TSS-C. Cameras, laser and radar all combine to detect vehicles in front of you and can tell when you are getting a little too close.
